Direct browser access to WordPress xmlrpc.php not supported

The xmlrpc.php file is part of a core WordPress API functionality that allows third-party apps, tools, services and even other websites to connect to a WordPress website. It allows these apps to perform remote updates to your website like managing posts, create pingbacks and others. You can read about the WordPress XML-RPC implementation in our blog post.

As the xmlrpc.php file is to be accessed only by other apps, on all SiteGround servers direct browser access to the file is not supported. This adds an additional security layer to your WordPress website that ensures the file is only used for its intended purposes.
