How do I use variables in email building with SiteGround Email Marketing?

Using variables in email building enhances personalization, leading to increased open rates, better engagement, and an improved customer experience. Capture your recipient’s attention and make them feel valued by addressing them by name. When building your emails with the SiteGround Email Marketing application, you can use variables to build rapport with your recipients.

How to use variables in email building?

The Email Marketing application allows you to add variables to the Subject line of your email campaign. That helps you send personalized emails to your recipients and promotes higher open rates. When recipients feel that an email is specifically crafted for them, they are more likely to be engaged and take the desired action.

Our Email Marketing service gives you the option to add a First name, a Last name, or both variables to your email body or Subject line. These variables are placeholders that dynamically insert the recipient’s name into the email content. Essentially, the tool parses the names from your Contacts list.

To use the tool for email building, navigate to your Client Area > Services > Email Marketing > Campaigns. You can edit an existing campaign by clicking on the three dots Actions menu > Edit. Alternatively, you can create a New campaign with the respective button in the upper right corner of the page.

Both of these actions will launch the Email Builder, where you can add name variables to your email subject or body.

Note that the email cannot be sent if there is no subject, as that is against the CAN-SPAM Act. You’ll get a warning message in such a case, as shown in the screenshot below.
