SiteGround extends its partnership with Cloudflare

SiteGround, a leading web hosting provider, has recently extended its partnership with Cloudflare, a web performance optimization company. Besides providing the general Cloudflare CDN, optimization and security features for free to its customers SiteGround has now also developed several unique tools to improve user experience with the services and has added Railgun – one of the most advanced Cloudflare speed options.

Cloudflare Activation

Cloudflare can be used as part of any regular hosting plan provided by SiteGround. The hosting company has developed its own cPanel plugin to help the customer activate and manage the multiple speed and security options that are part of the service. „The Cloudflare management panel that the SiteGround team has developed is very exciting,“ said Matthew Prince, Co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare. „One-click navigation makes it extremely easy to use. Its design is clear and user-friendly. SiteGround customers can now take full advantage of Cloudflare’s web performance and security features.“

Cloudflare Popup

Another unique in-house feature developed by SiteGround is a tool that automatically configures websites to be accessible through www. A website needs to be accessed with www in order to be served through the Cloudflare CDN network. The automated solution that SiteGround has developed elegantly solves this issue for the most popular applications. “A month after launching Cloudflare we made an audit of the websites that have activated it. We found out that many of them do not actually benefit from the service, as they are still accessible without WWW. To make it easier, we automated the solution of this issue and now included it in the activation process.“ explains Nikolay Todorov from SiteGround.

Railgun

Additionally, SiteGround has just implemented one of the most advanced speed features provided by Cloudflare, called Railgun. It makes the connection between Cloudflare and SiteGround servers as fast as possible. As a result the delivery of dynamic and personalized content that is not cached is accelerated so the website loading speed is considerably faster. Railgun is usually a paid service, which SiteGround has included in their Cloudflare plans for free to offer customers best website performance.

Railgun is usually $200 per month at Cloudflare. Is it the same service SiteGround offers for a free or plus plan with cloud servers? I guess something may be misguiding here since I think RailGun is itself a big gun to handle and SiteGround offers it for free? Hope your clarification will help us understand more :)

Hello Gaurav, at Cloudflare you pay the $200/mo not only for Railgun, but for many other features included in the Cloudflare package, such as web application firewall, real-time statistics, advanced denial of service attack mitigation etc. That being said, yes - it is the same Railgun service that we have included for free to our higher plans.

Hello Marina. Today I had a chat session with your customer service, the guys were really good and helped me understand this and that, but they actually told me, that all your plans include Railgun, after that I saw, here you've written - just the higher plans include it. Would you be more concrete - which plans exactly? Thanks in advance.

Just as a matter of interest, when I do a search for SiteGround on the Cloudflare partners page, I could not find SiteGround on either of the Optimized- or Certified Partners... https://www.cloudflare.com/partners/view-partners/ I thought it might be worth your while to check this out...
