What is a temporary domain?

What is a temporary domain?

A temporary domain is a domain provided to you temporarily by SiteGround only during the initial site setup process. It is convenient to help you get started with your website without losing too much time on thinking of a name for it. You do not own the temporary domain and you may not point it to servers outside our platform.

You can choose to have a temporary domain for your website during the website’s creation process in your Client Area.

Later, once you have decided that you want to change the domain for your website to a new or existing domain, you can follow the instructions in our Change Your Site’s Domain Name tutorial and perform the domain change.

Once the temporary domain is changed with a regular one, you can no longer use a temporary domain for your existing site. If you wish to use a temporary domain again, you have to create a brand new site.
