Can I change the name of a MySQL database?
The MySQL database name is generated automatically when the database is created from your Site Tools > Site > MySQL. Thus, it cannot be edited or changed.
To create a new database with a different name, go to Site Tools > Site > MySQL and click on Create Database. Once the new database is created, go to Users and add the new database to your database username.
After that export the content of your original database from your Site Tools > Site > MySQL > phpMyAdmin. Select the database from the menu on the left, click on Export and then on the bottom of the page on Go. You can find information on how to do that in our tutorial here.
Import the backup to your new database by using this article. The last step is to update your configuration file for your application (for WordPress wp-config.php, for Joomla! 3.x configuration.php, etc.) for the changes to take effect.
